The small white village of Albánchez, in the Medio Almanzora area of the northern foothills of the Sierra de los Filabres, is made up of typical Moorish houses built on the hillside, amidst orange and lemon groves.
More densely populated in the 19th century, in addition to flourishing agriculture, it had flour and oil mills, and textile mills producing blankets and linen. Today’s main activity is agriculture, complemented by the working of marble from nearby quarries.
